The Main Audience Display can show a variety of information that can be changed as the event day progresses in the Main Audience Display menu. At a minimum, events should have one Teamwork Main Audience Display per division located near the Teamwork Fields. Refer to the Venue Selection, Facility Planning & Field Layout article for more information.

There are two Main Audience Display options:

  1. Teamwork Main Audience Display
  2. Skills Main Audience Display

The Teamwork Main Audience Display is the most common type of display at events. It is a large display centrally located near the Teamwork Fields so that it is viewable by the Teams and Audience.

  • If an event has multiple Teamwork fields, the Teamwork Main Audience Display will show match information for all Teamwork fields in that Division. For example, if there are two Teamwork Fields, then it will automatically toggle between both fields for the Teamwork Matches.
  • If an event has multiple Divisions, then there needs to be separate Teamwork Audience Displays for each Division.

The Skills Main Audience Display is less commonly used at events because most Skills Fields have their own individual Field Timers. It does provide a way to display and control Skills Match timers, rankings, and other Main Audience Display types.

  4. The Match Sounds are typically played through the same device that controls the Teamwork Main Audience Display. Refer to the Match Sounds article for more information on how to enable sounds
  5. It’s recommended to change the display settings to a full-screen mode. This is done differently depending on the browser type. For Chrome browsers, select the three-dot settings icon to expand the settings menu, then select the Full Screen icon in the Zoom settings.Full screen settings.jpg

    2. To exit out of the full screen mode, hold down the ESC button for 3+ seconds.

Controlling the Main Audience Display Types

The Main Audience Display control screen includes a section to modify the display types. See Main Audience Display Types to review what information is displayed for each type.

Who Should Control the Main Audience Display Types?

There are a few options on who will control what information is displayed on the Main Audience Display. Multiple devices can have the Main Audience Display control screen open at the same time, but it’s recommended that only one person changes the display settings to avoid confusion.

Recommended Options:

  • Option 1: The Announcer can have the Main Audience Display control screen open on a tablet so they can view the match information, change the display settings, and start matches.
  • Option 2: The Technical Coordinator or other event staff member can be designated to operate the Main Audience Display control screen from a centralized device at the head table near the Teamwork Fields.

Manually selecting the Audience Display Type

Select the type of Main Audience Display from the list of display types. The display will immediately change to that display type.

Note: The Main Audience Display Type will automatically change to In Match when a match is started to ensure that the timer is displayed.

Using the Show Results Automatically Function

Optional: If the Show Results Automatically box is selected in the Main Audience Display control screen, the Audience Display will change display types as follows:

  1. Before a match is played, the Main Audience Display will need to be manually set to the Up Next display or other desired display type.
  2. The In Match display will automatically show when a match is started.
  3. After the match, the display will automatically switch to the Up Next display until the match Scores are saved.
    1. If the scores are saved before the next match starts, then the display will change to the Saved Match Results display when the scores are saved.
    2. If the next match starts before the scores are saved, then it will go directly into the In Match display.

Running Matches using the Main Audience Display

The Main Audience Display control screen provides a way to run matches. The control screen includes four main areas:

  • Event Match Fields: Determines which match is queued to be played next and which match will appear in the Saved Match Results display.
  • Timer Controls: Interface to start/stop matches or display a Time Out timer.
  • Audience Display: Area to select the display type.
  • Match on Field: Includes the current teams on the field and the match score

  1. Before starting a match:
    1. Verify the correct match is selected in the Select Match on Field. This will properly queue the match on the Main Audience Display and Field Timers.
    2. Change the Main Audience Display type to Up Next or In Match. The Up Next screen is preferred, but not required.
  2. Starting a match:
    1. When the Head Referee and/or Announcer signals that it is time to start a match, select Start in the Timer Controls. This will start the 5-second countdown and an audio signal will sound when the countdown ends and the match officially begins.
    2. The Main Audience Display and the Field Timers will automatically change to In Match when the Start button is selected.
  3. During a match:
    1. No changes should be made to the Main Audience Display during a match unless there is an issue that requires restarting the match. This would only be authorized by the Head Referee or Event Partner.
  4. After the match has ended, the next match will automatically populate in the Select Match on Field list and the previous match will populate in the Select Saved Match list. The person controlling the Main Audience Display has a few options to consider:
    1. Display the Up Next display to show the upcoming match information.
    2. Display the Saved Match Results once the results have been saved by the Scorekeeper Referees.
    3. If time is limited, remain on the In Match screen.
    4. If there is a long wait before the next match, other display types may be shown (Logo, Rankings, Skills Ranking, Schedule, etc.).
  5. Repeat this process for the remaining matches.

Time Out

The Time Out feature in the Main Audience Display provides a way for a customized timer to be displayed on the Main Audience Display.

Examples for use:

  • The Event Partner starts a timer to let the attendees know when the Awards Ceremony will begin.
  • In some competitions, Teams can elect to use a “Time Out” during Elimination Matches. See the Competition Manual to see if “Time Out” is an option and how it is used.

In the Timer Control section select Time Out. This will modify the Match Timer area to be a customizable interface to set the length of the Time Out. Select Start Timer to start the Time Out Timer and Cancel Time Out to stop the timer.
