Step 1 - Log into RECFevents.org

IMPORTANT: Beginning May 2025, the Aerial Drone Competition will use RECFevents.org for team and event registration. If you previously had an account on RobotEvents, please create a new account on RECFevents.org using the same name, email address and team number(s). This will enable RECF to match your accounts and transfer background checks.

New users

  • Click "New to RECF Events"
  • Enter your information and click "Register" (see important note above)
    • Tip: When entering your Date of Birth, select the YEAR first, then the month and day.

  • Verify your email address
    • Please check your Spam or Junk folder to verify your email, if you still do not see the verification email, please reach out to your RSM so we may manually verify your email address.
  • Make sure to put in your proper name, birthdate, and other information, otherwise you may experience delays in the background check process.

Returning users

  • Click "Log In"

Step 2 - Complete Background Check

IMPORTANT: If you previously completed a background check in RobotEvents, Please DO NOT ORDER a new background check. The RECF Support Team will update your status manually.

Returning Coach or Event Partner

Please use the same name and email address (from your RobotEvents account) when creating your new account in RECFevents. RECF will automatically match your accounts and transfer your background check. Please DO NOT ORDER a new background check Please allow 2–3 business days for this process to be completed.

New Coach or Event Partner

If you are new to RECF and will be a primary coach, secondary coach, financial contact or event partner, then you will need to complete the background check.

  • Click on Order Background Check.
  • New background checks typically take 2 - 10 days to process.

Additional Background Check Information

Step 3 - Register Teams

Once your background check has cleared, you will see a green checkmark in RECFevents. At this point you may begin to register your team(s).

3.1 Start Team Registration

Select Team on the Navigation Menu on the left
Click the Add Team Button in the upper right corner

3.2 Select Season Information

Click on the white box located under the word "Seasons" to choose the appropriate season.
Then, click Start Registration to proceed.

3.3 Fill in Organization Details

IMPORTANT: Depending on your internet connection, there may be a slight delay. As you begin typing the first few letters, the system will automatically search for and display your school or organization name.

TIP: Your address should autofill once you select the Organization. Skip the Select Address box.

3.4 Fill in Team Details

IMPORTANT: If you previously had an account in RobotEvents, and use the same information, you will be able to use the team numbers you used in previous seasons.

Team Number and Team Letter

  • Each team will be assigned a base organization number, which is 4 or 5 digits long. If a preferred number is available, you may choose it; otherwise, one will be randomly assigned.
  • For each individual team (typically consisting of 3 to 5 students), you will add a letter to the end of the base number to create a unique Team ID.
  • Example: If your base number is 12345, your first team might be 12345A, the second 12345B, and so on.

Grade Level

High School

  • A team is considered a High School Team if it includes at least one High School student.
  • A High School student is any eligible student not classified as a Middle School student.
  • Middle School students may “play up” and compete on High School teams.


Middle School

  • A Middle School Team is a team composed entirely of Middle School Students.
  • A Middle School Student is any student born after May 1, 2010 (i.e., will be 15 years old or younger as of April 2026).
  • Elementary School Students may "play up" and compete as Middle School Students.

Event Day Emergency Phone Number

Please put a number that can be reached on competition day (usually a coaches’ cell phone number)

Please select if your team is affiliated with any of the following organizations:

3.5 Fill in Contact Details

IMPORTANT: Primary Coaches, Secondary Coaches and Financial Contacts are required to have an active RECFevent account and a completed background check.

  • Primary Coach and Financial Contact are required.
    • These roles may be filled by the same individual.
  • Secondary Coach (Optional)
  • Organization/Administrative/District Contact (Optional)

3.6 Profile Details

  • Team Name: This name will appear on registration reports. It can be updated at any time during the season.
  • Display Name: This name will appear on display screens at competitions. It can also be changed during the season.
  • Additional Information : The remaining fields in this section are optional and may be edited or updated at any point during the season.

3.7 Team Organization Documents

Select "continue without updating"
Documents (not required for this season)

3.8 Add Additional Teams or Checkout

  • Go to Step 4 if you are adding additional Teams
  • Go to Step 5 if you are ready to checkout (all teams are registered)

Step 4 - Add Additional Teams

  • Select Teams from the Navigation Menu (left hand side)
  • Select My Team in the filter bar (if needed)
  • Click the "Add Another Team" button on the right side of the screen
  • Follow steps as shown in step 3 above
  • Repeat until all your teams are registered

Step 5 - Checkout

Once all teams are registered, you are ready to check out the items in your cart.

  • Complete Billing Information
  • Select Payment Method

Payment Status Updates

Once your team is registered and marked as Paid or PO Processing, you will be able to register your team(s) for upcoming competitions. How quickly this occurs depends on the payment method used.

Credit Card Payments

  • Payment status to Paid updates instantly.

ACH Payments (via RECFevents)

  • Takes 1–3 business days to process and show as Paid.
  • Payments made on weekends will not begin processing until Monday.

Purchase Orders (POs)

  • Uploaded POs may take 3–5 business days to be validated and for the order status to change from Unpaid to PO Processing.
  • The order status changes to Paid once the check is received and processed by RECF (this may take 1–2 weeks after receipt).

Checks (without a PO)

  • The order status changes to Paid once the check is received and processed by RECF (this may take 1–2 weeks after receipt).
