Skills Match Types

There are two types of Skills Matches at an event:

  1. Piloting Skills Matches
  2. Autonomous Skills Matches

The number of matches and the length of the matches are determined by the competition program type and rules for the current competition season. The Competition Portal will automatically include the updated information for the current season for each Skills match type.

Running Skills Matches

Skills matches are unscheduled and optional for teams to compete, therefore a new Skills match will need to be created for each instance a team will be completing a Skills match.

Skills matches are run from the Skills Matches menu that can be accessed in the Dashboard or in the left-hand menu of the Competition Portal.

Who Should Control the Skills Matches?

Scorekeeper Referees under the guidance of a Head Referee typically control creating, running and scoring Skills matches using a tablet. Scorekeepers at each Skills field can independently create, run and score Skills matches.

Notes for Event Partners and Technology Coordinators:

  • Use the Skills Match Scoring Device Permission settings on tablets to make it more user friendly for the Scorekeeper Referee.
  • Ensure the Scorekeeper Referee knows which Skills Field they are assigned to so that they can enter the correct Skills Field number when creating matches.

Creating a Skills Match

  1. When the team approaches the Skills field, select Add Skills Challenge +.

Skills Challenge Rankings per Age Group

This report is similar to the Skills Challenge Ranking report, except that it will separate the teams by age group for blended events. In larger events when there are separate awards based on grade level, this report is used by judges with determining certain judged awards.
