Enabling Match Sounds
The Main Audience Display includes the ability to play match sounds, but since this is a browser based application, the sounds may need to be enabled in the browser settings manually. This process is specific to the browser type being used to display the Main Audience Display and should be tested prior to the event day.
Below are some common browser types and how to enable sounds, but this information is subject to change based on the type of browser. Refer to the browser specific help menus to learn more about enabling sounds if the examples below do not exactly match these instructions.
Audio Requirements
Match Sounds requires the RECFevents browser tab to remain open and in the foreground. Most browsers suspend or restrict audio when a tab is inactive, minimized, or running in the background.
For reliable audio output, we strongly recommend dedicating this device and browser session to RECFevents only. Switching tabs, minimizing the browser, or running other applications may interfere with audio playback and cause sounds to fail or behave unpredictably.
Enabling Sounds in a Chrome Browser
- Click the three dots (More) in the top right corner of the Chrome window and select Settings.
- In the Settings menu, select Privacy and security from the left-hand pane.
- Select Site Settings.
- Under the Content section, expand the Additional Content Settings menu.
- Select Sound.
- Under Default behavior, make sure Sites can play sound is selected.
- Check Blocked Sites: Scroll down to the Not allowed to play sound section and ensure that the website you're trying to hear sound from is not listed under "Not allowed to play sound". If it is, click the three dots next to the site and select remove.
- If you still do not hear Match Sounds, check your browser bar and see if the speaker icon has a slash through it. If so, select the icon and change from “Continue muting sound” to “Always allow sound on https://recfevents.org”.

- Check Website Permissions: If the sound isn't working, it's possible the specific website has an issue, and you may need to contact them for assistance.
- Check Mute Button: Some media players may have their own mute button within the video or audio player on the page.
