Registration
Most Aerial Drone Competition team registrations will fit into one of three categories:
- New School/Organization
- Returning Team at a Returning School/Organization
- New Team at a Returning School/Organization
The steps presented below are abbreviated for those familiar with the process. If you have other questions or need to pay with a Purchase Order, email accounting@recf.org.
Student Age and Grade Level
Per the Competition Manual a Student is
- Anyone who is earning or has earned credit toward a high school diploma, certificate, or other
equivalent after September 1, 2024. Courses earning credits leading up to high school would
satisfy this requirement. - Anyone born after May 1, 2005. Eligibility may also be granted based on a disability that has
delayed education by at least one year. - Middle School Student: A Student born after May 1, 2009 (i.e., who will be 15 or younger in
May 2025). An Elementary School Student may compete as a middle school Student. - High School Student: Any eligible Student that is not a Middle School Student. A Middle
School Student may “play up” and compete as a High School Student.
Team Grade Level
Per the Competition Manual a Student is
One or more Students make up a Team.
- A Team is made up of Pilot(s), Co-Pilot(s), Programmer(s) and Visual Observer(s) and
other support members. - A Student may have more than one role on the Team, and can change roles at any time
within their own Team. - Teams may be associated with schools, community/youth organizations, or a group of
neighborhood Students. - Teams are either considered Middle School or High School.
- High School Team: A Team is classified as a High School Team if any of its
members are High School Students. - Middle School Team: A Team is classified as a Middle School, if none of its
members are High School Students.
- High School Team: A Team is classified as a High School Team if any of its

New School/Organization
- Browse to Robotevents.com.
- You will first need to create a "Login".
- Click on “Register.” Enter all required information and click the “Register” button.
- Enter your email and password and click "Login".
- Check to ensure that the correct year is listed in the “Season” dropdown menu on the right-hand side. Click the "Register a Team" button.
- Select the circle next to the program in which you wish to register, “Aerial Drone Competition,” then click the “Next” button. You will have to repeat this step if you are registering multiple teams
- Enter the details of your school/program in the organization information panel. Click the “Next” button.
- In the team information panel, either enter in the team number that you would like or allow the system to generate the number for you by clicking the ↺ symbol. If you request a team number that is already in use, you will be notified that it is unavailable.
- An Aerial Drone Competition team number consists of a base number that represents a school/organization followed by a letter that represents a team within that school/organization.
- As such, all teams in a single program from a school or organization should have the same base number/identifier.
- Enter in the details of the demographics of your team as well as your sponsor’s name and emergency contact info. Then click the “Next” button.
- Enter in team contact information. Then click the “Next” button.
- Enter details of your team, including team and robot name, in the team profile panel. Add social media information if applicable. You can change this later or year-to-year.
- Click "Finish" to complete the registration process for this team. Your team’s registration will now be added to your cart for checkout. Please note that your team’s registration is not complete until it is paid for.
Returning Team at a Returning School/Organization
- Browse to Robotevents.com.
- (Returning School) If you already have an account click "Login".
- Enter your email and password and click "Login".
- Click the "Renew Teams" button on the right-hand side.
- Click “Renew” for any of the team numbers from previous seasons which you wish to renew for the current season.
- Update any details of your school/program in the organization information panel. Click the “Next” button.
- Your Team Number is already selected in the team information panel. Verify or adjust details of the demographics of your team as well as your sponsor’s name and emergency contact info. Click the “Next” button.
- Verify or update contact information in the contacts panel. Click the “Next” button.
- Verify or update details of your team, including team and robot name, in the team profile panel. Add social media information if applicable. You can change this later or year-to-year.
- Click "Finish" to complete the registration process for this team. Your team’s registration will now be added to your cart for checkout. Please note that your team’s registration is not complete until it is paid for.
New Team at a Returning School/Organization
- Browse to Robotevents.com.
- (Returning school) If you already have an account, click "Login".
- Enter your email and password and click "Login".
- Check to ensure that the correct year is listed in the “Season” dropdown menu on the right-hand side. Click the "Register a Team" button.
- Select the circle next to the program in which you wish to register, “Aerial Drone Competition,” then click the “Next” button. You will have to repeat this step if you are registering multiple teams.
- You will now see a list of eligible teams and team numbers that you have registered previously. Click the “Add Another Team” button next to the team number in which you would like to register a new team.
- An Aerial Drone Competition team number consists of a base number that represents a school/organization followed by a letter that represents a team within that school/organization.
- As such, all teams in a single program from a school or organization should have the same base number/identifier.
- Update any details of your school/program in the organization information panel. Click the “Next” button.
- In the team information panel, your team number will already be entered and cannot be changed. Choose the letter you wish to associate with this team from the dropdown menu next to team number.
- Verify or adjust details of the demographics of your team as well as your sponsor’s name and emergency contact info. Then click the “Next” button.
- Verify or update contact information in the contacts panel. Click the “Next” button.
- Verify or update details of your team, including team and robot name, in the team profile panel. Add social media information if applicable. You can change this later or year-to-year. Please note that your team’s registration is not complete until it is paid for.
